Al Qaeda once sent five terrorists to China: One was sent to blow up a bus, but he wasn’t able to squeeze onto it; one was sent to blow up a supermarket, but the bomb was stolen from his basket; one was sent to blow up a train, but tickets were sold-out; finally, one succeeded in bombing a coal mine, and hundreds of workers died. He returned to Al Qaeda’s headquarters to await the headlines about his success, but it was never reported by the Chinese press. Al Qaeda executed him for lying.” http://ping.fm/U2ERq
Hello Friend
Al Qaeda once sent five terrorists to China: One was sent to blow up a bus, but he wasn’t able to squeeze onto it; one was sent to blow up a supermarket, but the bomb was stolen from his basket; one was sent to blow up a train, but tickets were sold-out; finally, one succeeded in bombing a coal mine, and hundreds of workers died. Passing Through this World
My sweet Grandmother passed away this morning. She was in her early 90s so she lived a long full life. She is now with her creator in whom she had much faith.
Poverty in America:
From the November 13, Washington Post story, “Amid Montgomery [County’s] affluence, plight of suburban poor worsens in downturn”:
“Everyone I know is rich,” Willie [Martin, 13] said. “They have everything, and I have nothing. I’ve had these shorts for, like, three years.” He gestured down to his baggy black cargos. “I can’t afford to gain any weight or I’ll grow out of them.”
Money is so tight he can play his Xbox only for an hour or so a day lest he strain the family’s electric bill.
Testing Tumbleeze
I began using Tumblr before Twitter existed. But never got into microblogging, becuase it tends to be noisy. Anyway, the purpose of this “tumblog” (tweet) is I’m testing out an Adobe Air app.
Pre-Twitter
Have been using Tumblr before Twitter existed. Same concept — micro blogging. So never saw the need for a Twitter account, except that it gained so much momentum and saw myself eventually using it out of necessity more than desire, can say the same for Facebook.
Just took a long much needed nap, feel much better now. In spite of being tired last night stayed up till 3 in the morning watching Myth Busters, and I don’t even care for the program. Who says people are rational?
The term “sui generis” seems to be hot in journalism. Must have seen it in about 3-4 articles in as many weeks. Since I like to think I’m pretty sui generis myself, and I avoid hot trends, you won’t hear me saying something is sui generis.
Just watched “Klimt” (2006) a portrait of Austrian artist Gustav Klimt played by John Malkovich. The film is a cross between “Amadeus” (1984) and “A Beautful Mind” (2001) with a heap of naked ladies thrown in for art’s sake.
Citeline (MIT) at least offers integration with Zotero (GMU). Unless Citeulike integrates with Zotero, I don’t see myself using this service. Why should I duplicate my work and recreate my research citations?
